‘I-go zinemara’: exhibition
The Architecture of Cinema project investigates, since October 2020, the development of the architectural space destined to exhibiting films and the place it occupies in the city. It is a project promoted by Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola in collaboration with the School of Architecture of Donostia-San Sebastián with the participation of specialists and students from both fields. The Basque Institute for Architecture is established as the framework for experimenting and developing different proposals, catalyzing this interdisciplinarity through the hybridization ‘I-go zinemara’.
The starting point of the project is an analysis of the evolution of the scenic space from its conception to the present, introducing film students to architectural concepts that serve as a tool to question the current model and propose alternatives for the future. Part of the results of that investigation are now displayed in the 0 floor of the Institute: a chronological mosaic reflects the moment in which the cinematographer arrived and ends with the panorama that we have today.
This exhibition accompanies the ‘I-go zinemara’ summer film festival, which offers every friday, free, a different film in the terrace of the Institute of Architecture as part of ‘Eileen Gray: E.1027‘ exhibition.
