Education
The IAE educational programme was set up and is devised to help explain the exhibition content. Designed for all audiences, from an inclusive, diverse and participatory perspective, these activities reveal the processes, techniques and fundamental principles that result in the creation of architectural works and projects, through fun dynamics incorporating hands-on involvement, and appealing to the intelligence of the participants through dynamics of collective creation.
These educational activities, adopting different formats and situations, accompany and complement the Institute's exhibition programme, inviting the general public to participate in its development. The Institute hosts visits from educational institutions during the week, for them to learn about the building and its exhibitions A guided tour of the rooms and an explanatory workshop tailored for different school and university age groups serve to interpret the exhibition elements at first hand.
The weekend family workshops provide a means of interpretation, an active approach to the topics generated, through the specific content of the exhibitions. They focus on families, but above all children and youngsters, to help them understand and enjoy the displays, which are typically curated for adult visitors.
The architecture laboratory is an extracurricular activity for those aged between 6 and 11. A progressive programme of teaching units brings us into closer contact with fundamental concepts of art and contemporary architecture, their techniques and expressions, helping to familiarise us with an awareness of the way we inhabit our cities.
The IAE camps provide a programme of morning activities during the school holidays (for groups aged 6-11 and 12-16), centred on architectural and environmental
knowledge. Collective sessions cover different topics, which are addressed through drawing, photography, models, and ephemeral spatial interventions.
The workshops for youngsters and adults (16+), invite participation by all those with an interest in deepening their understanding of the built environment in connection with contemporary society, within the different topics presented by the forthcoming exhibitions.
