`The city of prime numbers´whorkshop for young people
Prime numbers are that infinite series of natural numbers greater than one, and which have only two distinct positive divisors: themselves and one. Any natural number can be expressed in this way, based on the sum of two of these prime numbers, so that they become the architects of all integers. Their properties attract the curiosity not only of mathematicians, but also of artists, as is the case of Esther Ferrer, who worked on the basis of prime numbers in many of her works.
On the occasion of the recent installation of the work ‘Números Primos’ by Esther Ferrer, outside the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country Artium, we have designed a workshop for young people where we can approach, through different dynamics to the work of the artist. We will understand graphically how these numbers are spatially ordered and what patterns govern the arrangement of this surprising series, in order to enjoy the game that produces the artistic piece.
This activity, taught by Maushaus, is an initiative of the Institute of Architecture of the Basque Country in collaboration with the Artium Museum.
