Sounds shape the environment and are inseparable from that circumstance, that place and that specific moment in which we live. The different materials that make up the space are fundamental in the creation of sound environments. They create what we call the soundscape that is captured by each one of us, according to our personal way of perceiving based on what we know. Everything resonates in us and around us, but since we are not used to listening, we are not always aware of it. In the perception of these spaces full of sound, the most important thing is to pay attention, to be able to establish an experience based on the perception of the daily acoustic environment and to be able to enjoy the moment, the environment and the situation in which we find ourselves.

Taking as a starting point the piece ‘Resonant Spaces’, linked to the interaction between sound and space, within the exhibition ‘The visible city / The city at stake’, the sound artist Tzesne proposes an experience close to architecture and ‘Deep Listening’ for the perception of the everyday acoustic environment. A sound game, understood as a cultural experience, which promotes freedom, awareness and creation, where people connect our verbal and non-verbal modes and expand our perception to understand the world in an aesthetic way.

About Tzesne

With more than two decades that include twelve albums, a trilogy with N (Hellmut Neidhart) and numerous collaborations published on labels such as Abgurd, Drone, TIBProd, Mystery Sea or Eclectic Reactions (in addition to his own, SeriesNegras), Txesus Garate has become a reference in contemporary music and noise environment, as well as in activism and audiovisual manipulation.

Far from conventionalisms, his work has evolved towards conceptual approaches that result in a dreamlike and radical musical body. Whether at the helm of Tzesne or as a member of other projects, his poetic idea of sound -of the modeling of time- emphasizes the simplicity of precise and multiform compositions, which allude to a semantic perception of the piece.
