On Thursday 27 June, at 19:00, the Peña Ganchegui Archive presents the book ‘Iglesia San Francisco’ at the Basque Country Architecture Institute. This is the second issue of the Fondo Peña Ganchegui collection, aimed at publishing a selection of Luis Peña Ganchegui’s main works in the form of a monograph. For this second volume, the San Francisco church (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1968) has been chosen, the only incursion by the architect from Gipuzkoa into the field of sacred architecture, and which is particularly relevant at this time, as it is expected that an intervention will soon be undertaken on the building, following its designation as the future headquarters of the March 3rd Memorial Foundation.

The presentation of the book will feature Rocío Peña and Mario Sangalli, architects and coordinators of this monograph dedicated to the church of Vitoria; the historian Larraitz Arretxea, author of the text accompanying the archive material; and the graphic designer José Luis Lanzagorta, responsible for the design of the collection.

About the book

‘Iglesia San Francisco’ brings together a selection of original material reproduced as it is, without filters or interpretations: period photographs of the finished church, a selection of plans of the project, photographs of the work during the construction process, written documentation of the project and its processing… And it is accompanied by an unpublished approach by the historian Larraitz Arretxea (San Sebastián, 1974).
